Our story

Cooking for the neighbourhood, one season at a time.

Saveur began as a supper club in a borrowed kitchen. Today it’s a small, busy bistro on Harbour Street — still run by the same people, with the same idea.

How it started

An old chandlery, a wood oven and a very long shopping list.

Élise and Tomás met cooking in busy city kitchens and kept talking about the same thing: a place where the menu is written by the market, not the other way round. When the old ship chandlery on Harbour Street came up for rent, they took it — creaky floors and all.

We still buy from the growers, fishers and cheesemakers we started with, and we still change the menu every week.

The people

Meet the team

A small crew in the kitchen and on the floor, who care a great deal about your evening.

Élise Moreau

Head chef & co-founder

Writes the menu every Monday after a morning at the market. Soft spot for anything cooked over embers.

Tomás Reyes

Sous chef & co-founder

Runs the grill and the fish counter. Knows every boat that lands in Portwell by name.

Amara Okoye

Pastry chef

In before sunrise for the bread, tarts and ice creams. Responsible for the lemon tart you’ll keep coming back for.

Jonah Lindqvist

Front of house & wine

Looks after the room and the wine list. Happy to pour you a taste before you commit to a bottle.

What we believe

Our values, on every plate

Seasonal first

We cook what’s at its best right now, which means the menu is never quite the same two weeks running.

Know the grower

Most of what we serve comes from people we can phone by name, and we’re happy to tell you who they are.

Nothing wasted

Trimmings become stocks, bread becomes crumb, and leftover fruit becomes tomorrow’s sorbet.

A warm welcome

First visit or fiftieth, dressed up or straight from the beach — there’s a seat for you here.
